GAAM equips CFA Coast Guard Brigades with fire pumps |

GAAM Emergency Products has completed a four week installation of specialised fire protection equipment for the CFA Coast Guard Brigades. The newly formed CFA Coast Guard Brigades are a direct result of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard and the Country Fire Authority. The benefit to the Victorian community is that CFA now has the capacity to fight fires on Victorian waters. The first project of its kind, GAAM has designed and built 17 pumps that have been installed on 17 individual vessels located on lakes and coastal towns throughout Victoria. In order to protect the pumps from salt water corrosion, the equipment needed to be specially framed and painted. “The CFA Coast Guard project demanded that we develop highly specialised equipment that could withstand and perform in tough saltwater conditions day-in day-out,” said Ian Price, GAAM Emergency Products. “We hope that this project will encourage other coast guards to look at their own fire equipment needs and consider whether this type of durable system might also benefit them.” GAAM was involved in the tender as a result of its extensive work with the Victorian Country Fire Authority (CFA), developing pumps and sourcing additional fire fighting equipment. |
